A Northern Xinjiang Grand Loop links snow-capped mountains, lakes, forests, grasslands, and river valleys over about ten days, letting you experience, on this palette of the Creator, what it means to see "a different view with every step, and heaven around every corner."

第1天：各地→乌鲁木齐

Day 1: Various Places→Urumqi

第一天不用急着赶路，抵达乌鲁木齐后入住市区酒店，下午逛国际大巴扎感受西域烟火，傍晚在大巴扎夜市品尝大盘鸡、烤包子和手抓饭等地道新疆美食，顺便适应两小时时差。

No need to rush on the first day. After arriving in Urumqi, check into a hotel in the city. In the afternoon, explore the International Grand Bazaar to experience the vibrant local life. In the evening, enjoy authentic Xinjiang dishes such as Dapanji (big plate chicken), roasted buns, and hand-pulled rice at the Grand Bazaar night market, while getting used to the two-hour time difference.

第2天：乌鲁木齐→天山天池→可可托海镇

Day 2: Urumqi→Tianchi Lake of Tianshan Mountain→Cocoa Tuohai Town

总里程约550公里，车程约7.5小时。上午先开90公里到天山天池（游玩2-3小时，建议坐区间车+步行栈道）。下午前往可可托海镇，途中可在恰库尔图镇加油吃饭。3号矿坑是世界最大矿坑，值得一看。住可可托海镇或富蕴县，晚饭吃额河烤鱼、哈萨克奶茶、包尔萨克等。

Total distance: ~550 km, driving time: ~7.5 hours. In the morning, drive 90 km to Tianchi Lake (spend 2-3 hours; it is recommended to take the shuttle bus and walk on the boardwalk). In the afternoon, head to Cocoa Tuohai Town. On the way, you can refuel and have a meal in Qia'kurtu Town. The No. 3 Mine Pit is the world‘s largest and worth a visit. Stay overnight in Cocoa Tuohai Town or Fuyun County. For dinner, try Ehe grilled fish, Kazakh milk tea, and Bo'ersak (fried dough).

第3天：可可托海→阿勒泰→五彩滩→布尔津

Day 3: Cocoa Tuohai→Altay→Rainbow Beach→Burqin

单日里程约150公里，车程约2.5小时。上午游玩可可托海景区，探索额尔齐斯大峡谷的神钟山。然后前往阿勒泰方向，沿路经过阿勒泰草原，下午抵达五彩滩（强烈建议傍晚6点后去，落日光线最漂亮）。拍完日落开车20公里到布尔津。住布尔津县城，晚上直奔布尔津河堤夜市，必吃烤狗鱼（冷水鱼）配格瓦斯。

Single-day distance: ~150 km, driving time: ~2.5 hours. In the morning, visit Cocoa Tuohai Scenic Area and explore the Divine Bell Mountain in the Irtysh Grand Canyon. Then head towards Altay, passing by the Altay Grassland. Arrive at Rainbow Beach in the afternoon (it is strongly recommended to go after 6 p.m. for the most beautiful sunset light). After photographing the sunset, drive 20 km to Burqin. Stay overnight in Burqin County, and head straight to the Burqin Riverbank Night Market in the evening. You must try grilled dogfish (a cold-water fish) with Kvass.

第4天：布尔津→禾木村

Day 4: Burqin→Hemu Village

单日里程约190公里，车程约4小时（山路弯多，慢行）。从布尔津出发，沿盘山公路前行，下午抵达被誉为“神的自留地”的禾木村，然后逛禾木桥、白桦林，傍晚爬上哈登观景台看全村炊烟。当晚强烈建议住在禾木村内的图瓦人木屋民宿，推窗可见雪山和星空。（必须提前1-2周订）。晚餐点土火锅，暖和又解乏。

Single-day distance: ~190 km, driving time: ~4 hours (mountain roads with many curves – drive slowly). Depart from Burqin and follow the winding mountain road. Arrive in Hemu Village in the afternoon, known as “God‘s Private Land.” Then visit Hemu Bridge and the birch forest. In the evening, climb up to the Haden Observation Deck to see the village’s cooking smoke. It is highly recommended to stay overnight in a Tuvan wooden cabin homestay inside Hemu Village, where you can open the window to see snow-capped mountains and the starry sky (must book 1-2 weeks in advance). Order a local clay pot hot pot for dinner – it‘s warming and refreshing.

第5天：禾木村→喀纳斯→白哈巴村

Day 5: Hemu Village→Kanas→Baihaba Village

早起到哈登观景平台看禾木晨雾与日出、木屋、炊烟交织的童话般意境。景区内区间车为主，私家车不能直接进。上午从禾木出发到喀纳斯游客中心，换乘区间车游喀纳斯（重点：观鱼台1068级台阶俯瞰湖面，湖边栈道徒步）。下午乘区间车去被誉为“西北第一村”的白哈巴村（边防证提前在布尔津政务大厅办，带身份证，或在户籍地公安部门提前办理）。住白哈巴村（村子很小很安静，晚餐在民宿吃简单的图瓦人家饭）。

Get up early to head to the Haden Viewing Platform and witness the fairy-tale scene where Hemu's morning mist intertwines with the sunrise, wooden houses, and cooking smoke.Shuttle buses are the main means of transport inside the scenic area; private cars are not allowed. In the morning, depart from Hemu to the Kanas Visitor Center, then transfer to a shuttle bus to visit Kanas (highlights: climbing the 1,068 steps of the Fish Viewing Pavilion for a panoramic view of the lake, and walking on the lakeside boardwalk). In the afternoon, take a shuttle bus to Baihaba Village, known as “the First Village in Northwest China” (you need a border pass – get it in advance at the Burqin Government Affairs Hall with your ID card, or at the public security bureau in your hometown). Stay overnight in Baihaba Village (the village is very small and quiet; have a simple Tuvan home-cooked meal at your homestay for dinner).

第6天：白哈巴村→魔鬼城→克拉玛依

Day 6: Baihaba Village→Ghost City→Karamay

单日里程约470公里，车程约6小时。上午从白哈巴出来，下午到世界魔鬼城，最佳时间是日落前1小时，雅丹地貌在落日光影中最为壮美。拍完日落开车110公里到克拉玛依市区。住克拉玛依，晚上去南湖美食城，推荐架子肉、黄面烤肉、假腰子。

Single-day distance: ~470 km, driving time: ~6 hours. Depart from Baihaba in the morning and arrive at the World Ghost City in the afternoon. The best time is one hour before sunset, when the yardang landform looks most spectacular in the sunset light. After photographing the sunset, drive 110 km to Karamay city center. Stay overnight in Karamay. In the evening, go to Nanhu Food City – recommended dishes: shelf meat (roasted meat on a rack), yellow-noodle grilled meat, and fake kidney (grilled seasoned offal).

第7天：克拉玛依→赛里木湖→果子沟大桥→薰衣草园→伊宁

Day 7: Karamay→Sayram Lake→Guozigou Bridge→Lavender Garden→Yining

行程单日里程约560公里，车程约7小时（全程最长，建议早7点出发）。赛里木湖被誉为“大西洋的最后一滴眼泪”，一定要绕湖一圈，约90公里，东门进逆时针环至南门出，可将雪山倒影、碧蓝湖水和湖畔草原尽收眼底。出南门不远就是果子沟大桥，在观景台停车拍照。然后开50公里到霍城县解忧公主薰衣草农场，只有6月中至7月中好看，其他季节可略过。再开60公里到伊宁市。住伊宁（推荐六星街或喀赞其附近）。下午逛喀赞其，晚上前往六星街或汉人街比较好，推荐吃手工冰淇淋、烤包子、酸奶粽子、碎肉抓饭。

Single-day distance: ~560 km, driving time: ~7 hours (the longest day – it is recommended to start at 7 a.m.). Sayram Lake is known as “the last drop of the Atlantic Ocean.” You must drive a full loop around the lake, about 90 km: enter from the east gate, go counterclockwise, and exit from the south gate. This will give you a full view of snow-capped mountain reflections, crystal blue water, and lakeside grasslands. Just outside the south gate is Guozigou Bridge – stop at the viewing platform for photos. Then drive 50 km to Jieyou Princess Lavender Farm in Huocheng County. It is beautiful only from mid-June to mid-July; skip it in other seasons. Drive another 60 km to Yining City. Stay overnight in Yining (recommended near Six-Star Street or Kazanqi). In the afternoon, explore Kazanqi. In the evening, head to Six-Star Street or Hanren Street – recommended: handmade ice cream, roasted buns, yogurt rice dumplings, and minced meat pilaf.

第8天：伊宁→昭苏（伊昭公路/特克斯公路）→夏塔古道→特克斯八卦城

Day 8: Yining→Zhaosu (Yizhao Highway/Tekes Highway)→Shata Ancient Trail→Tekes Bagua City

单日里程约270公里，车程约5小时（含游玩）。走伊昭公路（季节性开放，每年5月底或6月初至9月底或10月初通车，风景绝美但弯多，沿途可打卡白石峰、野狼谷等景观）。中午到昭苏县，去昭苏湿地公园看天马浴河（每天固定场次，提前核实时间）。下午去夏塔古道（徒步者的天堂，建议坐区间车到温泉酒店再徒步一段，仰望木扎尔特冰川）。傍晚开130公里到特克斯八卦城。住特克斯，晚上逛离街，吃红柳烤肉、鸽子汤、柴火馕。

Single-day distance: ~270 km, driving time: ~5 hours (including sightseeing). Take the Yizhao Highway (seasonal road – open from late May/early June to late September/early October each year, stunning scenery but many curves, photo stops at Baishi Peak, Wolf Valley, etc.). Arrive in Zhaosu County at noon, and go to Zhaosu Wetland Park to watch the “Heavenly Horses Bathe in the River” show (check exact show times in advance). In the afternoon, visit the Shata Ancient Trail (a hiker‘s paradise; it is recommended to take the shuttle bus to the Hot Spring Hotel and then hike a section, gazing up at the Muzart Glacier). In the evening, drive 130 km to Tekes Bagua City. Stay overnight in Tekes. Explore Lijie Street in the evening, and eat red willow barbecue, pigeon soup, and firewood-cooked naan bread.

第9天：特克斯→喀拉峻草原→那拉提镇

Day 9: Tekes→Karajun Grassland→Nalati Town

单日里程约320公里，车程约5小时。上午开40公里到喀拉峻大草原（世界自然遗产，重点玩鲜花台和猎鹰台，拍“人体草原”光影曲线）。如果你喜欢深度游，可以绕道去琼库什台，原生态哈萨克村落，但多开往返山路约3小时。之后开车280公里到那拉提镇（这段路较长，注意休息）。住那拉提镇，晚餐吃纳仁或马肉纳仁。

Single-day distance: ~320 km, driving time: ~5 hours. In the morning, drive 40 km to Karajun Grassland (a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site; focus on the Flower Terrace and Falcon Terrace, and photograph the light-and-shadow curves of the “Human Body Prairie”). If you prefer a more in-depth tour, you can detour to Qiongkushitai, an original ecological Kazakh village – but this adds about 3 hours of round-trip mountain driving. Then drive 280 km to Nalati Town (this is a long stretch – make sure to rest). Stay overnight in Nalati Town. For dinner, eat Naren (boiled meat with noodles) or horse meat Naren.

第10天：那拉提草原→独库公路中段→巴音布鲁克草原

Day 10: Nalati Grassland→Middle Section of Duku Highway→Bayinbuluk Grassland

单日里程约60公里，车程约1.5小时。上午游玩那拉提草原（推荐空中草原线，网红桥打卡）。中午沿独库公路中段开60公里到巴音布鲁克草原，看天鹅湖，傍晚去九曲十八弯等日落，长焦镜头必备，运气好能拍到“九个太阳”。住巴音布鲁克镇（蒙古包冷但有趣，带羽绒服）。晚餐吃清炖黑头羊（当地特有羊种）、牦牛骨头汤。

Single-day distance: ~60 km, driving time: ~1.5 hours. In the morning, visit Nalati Grassland (the Sky Grassland route is recommended; check in at the famous bridge). At noon, drive 60 km along the middle section of the Duku Highway to Bayinbuluk Grassland. See Swan Lake, and in the evening head to the Nine Bends and Eight Turns to wait for the sunset. A telephoto lens is a must – with luck, you can capture “nine suns.” Stay overnight in Bayinbuluk Town (yurts are cold but fun – bring a down jacket). For dinner, eat stewed black-headed sheep (a local breed) and yak bone soup.

第11天：巴音布鲁克→独库公路北段→独山子大峡谷/安集海大峡谷→乌鲁木齐

Day 11: Bayinbuluk→Northern Section of Duku Highway→Dushanzi Grand Canyon / Anjihai Grand Canyon→Urumqi

单日里程约530公里，车程约8小时（早点出发）。走独库公路北段（全程最险峻壮丽的一段，翻越哈希勒根达坂，6月还能摸到路边雪墙）。开260公里到独山子大峡谷（“独库秘境”）（时间充裕的话，也可以选择游玩安集海大峡谷）。然后上连霍高速开约270公里回乌鲁木齐。途中可在独山子市区吃烤包子、大盘鸡当午饭。晚上抵达乌鲁木齐，结束北疆大环线之旅。

Single-day distance: ~530 km, driving time: ~8 hours (start early). Take the northern section of the Duku Highway (the most rugged and spectacular section of the whole route, crossing the Hashilegen Pass – in June you can still touch snow walls by the roadside). Drive 260 km to Dushanzi Grand Canyon (“the secret realm of Duku”) (if time permits, you can also choose to visit Anjihai Grand Canyon). Then take the Lianhuo Expressway for about 270 km back to Urumqi. On the way, you can have lunch in Dushanzi city – try roasted buns and Dapanji. Arrive in Urumqi in the evening, concluding your Northern Xinjiang Grand Loop tour.

· 北疆大环线推荐6月至9月出行：6月薰衣草盛开、草原翠绿；7-8月草原花海绚烂、瓜果飘香；9月北疆进入金秋时节，白桦林金黄，喀纳斯秋色醉人。

• The Northern Xinjiang Grand Loop is recommended from June to September. In June, lavender is in full bloom and grasslands are lush green. July to August offers vibrant flower seas on the grasslands and fragrant melons and fruits. September brings the golden autumn season, with white birch forests turning yellow and the stunning autumn colors of Kanas.

· 新疆昼夜温差极大，夏季早晚也可能低于10℃，务必携带一件薄羽绒服或保暖冲锋衣，尤其是在禾木、喀纳斯、赛里木湖和巴音布鲁克等地。草原徒步建议穿防滑徒步鞋。

• Xinjiang has extreme temperature differences between day and night. Even in summer, temperatures can drop below 10°C (50°F) in the early morning or at night. Be sure to bring a lightweight down jacket or a warm windproof parka, especially in Hemu, Kanas, Sayram Lake, and Bayinbuluk. For grassland hikes, wear non-slip hiking shoes.

· 新疆气候干燥且紫外线强烈，建议准备好SPF50+防晒霜、墨镜、宽檐帽、润唇膏等防护用品。

• The climate is dry with strong UV rays. Prepare SPF50+ sunscreen, sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and lip balm.

• Carpooling or Small Group Tours: Local drivers take care of the driving, saving you effort – ideal for Xinjiang where scenic spots are far apart. A 4–6 person small group splits costs reasonably. Daily carpool cost is about 500–800 RMB (for reference only).

·租车或自驾：推荐SUV或四驱越野车，适合老司机，新疆大部分的风景都在路上，但山路弯多，不要疲劳驾驶，建议两人或以上轮换驾驶。

• Rental Car or Self-Drive: SUVs or 4WD vehicles are recommended, suitable for experienced drivers. Most of Xinjiang’s beauty is on the road, but mountain roads have many curves. Do not drive fatigued; it’s best to have two or more people take turns driving.

·公共交通：大城市或大景点之间动车和大巴都比较方便，只是要转不同交通工具，耗时比较长，没那么自由。

• Public Transportation: Trains and buses between major cities and attractions are convenient, but you’ll need to transfer between different modes, which takes more time and offers less freedom.

·见加油站就加满油和补给：新疆地广人稀，部分路段（如可可托海到布尔津、沙漠公路）间隔近200公里无加油站，见到加油站就加满，别侥幸。同时要备足水和干粮。

• Fill up at every gas station: Xinjiang is vast with sparse population. Some stretches (e.g., Koktokay to Burqin, desert highways) have no gas station for nearly 200 km. Fill up whenever you see a station – don’t take chances.Also stock up on enough water and dry food.

· 限速严格：新疆区间测速多，尤其是国道和省道，严格遵守限速，莫图一时之快。

• Strict speed limits: Xinjiang has many interval speed checks, especially on national and provincial highways. Obey speed limits strictly – don’t rush.

· 动物出没：草原公路上常有牛羊群转场穿行，遇此情况请停车等待，不要鸣笛催促。

• Animal crossings: Herds of cattle, sheep, or horses often cross grassland highways. Stop and wait if you encounter them – do not honk.

· 独库公路：仅限7座及以下车辆通行，开放期在每年6月初至10月初，因施工与安全实行“昼保通行、夜保施工”，‌夜间19:00至次日8:00禁止社会车辆通行‌。这个会因应不同路段而不同。出发前务必查询“平安独山子”等官方公众号确认开放信息。特别提醒：2026年6月25日起，独库公路北段（G217线那拉提—乌苏驿，约185公里）实行预约通行，出发前在“平安独库”预约。以上提及的信息仅供参考，以官方最新规定为准。

• Duku Highway: Only vehicles with 7 seats or fewer are allowed. It opens from early June to early October each year. Due to construction and safety, “daytime traffic, nighttime construction” applies: no private vehicles from 19:00 to 8:00 the next day. Rules may vary by section. Before departing, check official sources like the “Safe Dushanzi” WeChat public account for updates. Special note: From June 25, 2026, the northern section of Duku Highway requires a reservation. · 住宿推荐：禾木村的图瓦人木屋推窗可看晨雾星空，赛里木湖边的蒙古包条件简单但值得体验。

• Stay in the scenery: Tuvan wooden cabins in Hemu Village offer views of morning mist and starry skies right from your window. Mongolian yurts by Sayram Lake are simple but worth the experience.

• ID Card: You’ll need to swipe your ID card at some shopping malls, gas stations, and security checkpoints. Carry it with you at all times.

· 大部分景区实行实名制线上预约购票，旺季强烈建议提前在官方微信公众号购票。

• Most scenic areas require real-name online ticket booking. Strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance via official WeChat accounts during peak season.

· 学生证、老年证、军人证等有效证件可享受门票优惠。

• Valid student, senior, or military ID cards can get you ticket discounts.

· 边防通行证：去白哈巴、塔县、红其拉甫口岸等边境地区需提前办理。，可在布尔津县政务大厅凭身份证免费办理，当然最好在户籍地派出所提前办理，具体办理方式以当时最新政策为准。

•Border Permit: For border areas like Baihaba, Tashkurgan (Taxkorgan), and Khunjerab Pass, you need a border permit in advance. You can get one for free at the Burqin County Government Service Hall with your ID card, though it’s better to apply at your local police station in your hometown. Check the latest policies for specific procedures.

· 无人机与报备：如需携带无人机，需完成“国家平台实名登记”+“景区/属地公安报备”，具体报备地点和方式因景区而异，如赛里木湖部分区域禁飞，需报备。

•Drones & Registration: If bringing a drone, you must complete “national platform real-name registration” + “scenic area/local police filing.” Filing locations and methods vary by scenic area – for example, some parts of Sayram Lake prohibit drones and require filing.
